How to Make a Queen Size Bed Skirt
A bed skirt is a lovely addition to any bedroom. It can hide unsightly box springs and bed frames, and it can also add a touch of style and sophistication to the room. Making a bed skirt is a relatively easy project that can be completed in a few hours. Here are step-by-step instructions on how to make a queen size bed skirt:
Materials:
* 12 yards of fabric (main fabric) * 1 yard of fabric (lining fabric) * 1 package of 1/2-inch wide double-fold bias tape * Scissors * Measuring tape or ruler * Iron and ironing board * Sewing machine * ThreadInstructions:
1. Measure the length and width of your bed frame. Add 12 inches to the length and width to allow for overhang. Cut two pieces of fabric to these measurements, one from the main fabric and one from the lining fabric.
2. Place the main fabric on the floor with the right side facing up. Place the lining fabric on top of the main fabric, with the right side facing down. Pin the two pieces of fabric together around the edges.
3. Sew the two pieces of fabric together around the edges, using a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Leave a 6-inch opening in one of the sides for turning.
4. Turn the bed skirt right side out and press it. Fold the raw edge of the opening inward by 1/2 inch and press it.
5. Fold the bias tape in half lengthwise and press it. Starting at one corner of the bed skirt, pin the bias tape around the edge of the opening, mitering the corners as you go.
6. Sew the bias tape to the bed skirt, using a blind stitch or a small zigzag stitch. Trim any excess bias tape.
7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 to finish the rest of the bed skirt.
Your queen size bed skirt is now complete! Enjoy the added style and sophistication it brings to your bedroom.
Tips:
* For a more tailored look, use a heavy fabric for the main fabric, such as velvet or linen. * For a more casual look, use a lighter fabric for the main fabric, such as cotton or flannel. * If you don't have a sewing machine, you can hand-sew the bed skirt. However, this will take longer and the results may not be as neat and tidy. * If you want to add a touch of personality to your bed skirt, you can embellish it with rickrack, lace, or other trim.Easiest Diy Bed Skirt With Box Pleats Nourish And Nestle
