How To Make A Queen Floating Bed

Floating beds are a great way to add a touch of luxury to your bedroom. They create the illusion of floating in mid-air, and they can make your room feel more spacious and inviting. While floating beds can be expensive to buy, they are relatively easy to make yourself. With a few simple tools and materials, you can create a queen-size floating bed that will be the envy of your friends.

Materials:

  • 1 sheet of 3/4-inch plywood, cut to 60 inches by 80 inches
  • 8 bed slats, each 3 inches wide by 60 inches long
  • 12 L-brackets
  • 16 wood screws
  • 1 can of spray paint (optional)

Tools:

  • Drill
  • Screwdriver
  • Measuring tape
  • Level
  • Saw (optional)

Instructions:

1. Start by assembling the frame. Place the plywood sheet on the floor and attach the bed slats to the underside using the L-brackets and wood screws. Make sure that the bed slats are evenly spaced and that the frame is square.

2. Once the frame is assembled, it's time to attach the legs. The legs can be made from any type of material, but wood is a good choice because it is strong and durable. Cut the legs to the desired length and attach them to the corners of the frame using L-brackets and wood screws.

3. If desired, you can paint the frame and legs to match your bedroom décor. Once the paint is dry, the bed is ready to use.

4. To create the illusion of floating, place the bed on a rug or carpet that is a few inches smaller than the bed. This will create a gap between the bed and the floor, making it appear to be floating.

Tips:

  • If you don't have a saw, you can purchase pre-cut bed slats at most hardware stores.
  • You can use any type of L-brackets, but make sure that they are strong enough to support the weight of the bed.
  • If you are using wood legs, be sure to seal them with a clear finish to protect them from moisture.
  • If you want to add additional support to the bed, you can install a center support leg.

With a little effort, you can create a beautiful and unique queen-size floating bed that will add a touch of luxury to your bedroom.
