How to Build a Platform Bed with Storage

Building a platform bed with storage is a great way to add extra storage space to your bedroom without taking up too much floor space. Platform beds are also a great way to add a modern and stylish look to your bedroom. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to build a platform bed with storage.

Materials

2x4 lumber (8 pieces)
2x6 lumber (16 pieces)
3/4-inch plywood (1 sheet)
1/2-inch plywood (1 sheet)
Wood screws
Drawer slides
Drawer pulls

Tools

Circular saw
Drill
Screwdriver
Clamps
Measuring tape

Instructions

1. Cut the 2x4 lumber to the following lengths:

4 pieces at 74 inches
4 pieces at 37 inches

2. Cut the 2x6 lumber to the following lengths:

8 pieces at 37 inches
8 pieces at 72 inches

3. Assemble the frame of the bed by attaching the 2x4 lumber to the 2x6 lumber using wood screws. The 2x4 lumber should be attached to the inside of the 2x6 lumber, so that the top of the 2x4 lumber is flush with the top of the 2x6 lumber.

4. Cut the 3/4-inch plywood to fit the top of the bed frame. The plywood should be cut to the same dimensions as the inside of the frame.

5. Attach the 3/4-inch plywood to the top of the bed frame using wood screws.

6. Cut the 1/2-inch plywood to fit the inside of the bed frame. The plywood should be cut to the same dimensions as the inside of the frame, but it should be cut to a height that is 6 inches shorter than the height of the frame.

7. Attach the 1/2-inch plywood to the inside of the bed frame using wood screws. This will create a space for the drawers.

8. Install the drawer slides on the inside of the bed frame, according to the manufacturer's instructions.

9. Build the drawers by attaching the sides, front, and back of the drawers to the bottom of the drawers using wood screws. The drawers should be made to fit the space inside the bed frame.

10. Attach the drawer pulls to the front of the drawers.

Your platform bed with storage is now complete!
