Cut the 4x4 lumber into eight pieces, each 84 inches long. These pieces will be the legs of the bed frame. Cut the 2x4 lumber into twelve pieces, each 84 inches long. These pieces will be the side rails and headboard/footboard. Cut the 1x6 lumber into two pieces, each 84 inches long. These pieces will be the support beams for the plywood deck. Cut the 1x4 lumber into two pieces, each 84 inches long. These pieces will be the trim for the headboard/footboard.Step 2: Assemble the legs
Attach the legs to the side rails using wood screws. Make sure the legs are evenly spaced and that the side rails are parallel to each other.Step 3: Attach the support beams
Attach the 1x6 support beams to the side rails using wood screws. The support beams should be spaced evenly apart and should be parallel to the side rails.Step 4: Cut the plywood
Cut a piece of plywood to fit on top of the support beams. The plywood should be 84 inches long and 60 inches wide.Step 5: Attach the plywood
Attach the plywood to the support beams using wood screws. Make sure the plywood is flush with the edges of the support beams.Step 6: Trim the headboard/footboard
Attach the 1x4 trim to the headboard/footboard using wood screws. The trim should be flush with the edges of the headboard/footboard.Step 7: Sand and finish
Sand the bed frame smooth and apply a stain or paint of your choice.Tips:
- Use a level to make sure that the bed frame is level before attaching the plywood. - Use wood glue to help secure the joints. - If you are using a thick piece of plywood, you may need to use additional support beams. - You can customize the bed frame to fit your own style.
