How To Build A Twin Trundle Bed

Step 2: Cut the Wood
Cut the wood according to the following dimensions:

- 6 pieces - 8 feet long

- 2x6 lumber:

- 1/2-inch plywood:
- 2 pieces - 36 inches by 80 inches
- 1 piece - 36 inches by 48 inches
- 1-inch plywood:

Step 3: Assemble the Bed Frame
Start by assembling the bed frame. To do this, follow these steps:
- Attach two 2x4s (8 feet long) to the headboard and two 2x4s (8 feet long) to the footboard using 2-inch wood screws.
- Attach the 2x6 (8 feet long) to the center of the bed frame using 2-inch wood screws.
- Attach the remaining 2x4s (36 inches long) to the side rails of the bed frame using 2-inch wood screws.
Step 4: Attach the Plywood
Once the bed frame is assembled, you can attach the plywood. To do this, follow these steps:
- Attach the 1/2-inch plywood to the bottom of the bed frame using 1-inch wood screws.
- Attach the 1-inch plywood to the top of the bed frame using 1-inch wood screws.
Step 5: Attach the Trundle Bed
To attach the trundle bed, follow these steps:
- Cut two 2x4s (36 inches long) and two 2x4s (48 inches long).
- Attach the 2x4s (36 inches long) to the headboard and footboard of the trundle bed using 2-inch wood screws.
- Attach the 2x4s (48 inches long) to the side rails of the trundle bed using 2-inch wood screws.
- Attach the 1/2-inch plywood to the bottom of the trundle bed using 1-inch wood screws.
Step 6: Add the Finishing Touches
Once the bed is assembled, you can add the finishing touches. This may include sanding the bed to smooth out any rough edges, painting or staining the bed, and adding a mattress and bedding.
