How to Build a Twin Over Full Bunk Bed with Stairs

Materials

2 twin bed frames
1 full bed frame
2x4 lumber
3/4-inch plywood
1-inch wood screws
2-inch wood screws

Instructions

1. Cut the 2x4 lumber to the following lengths:

4 pieces at 8 feet long
4 pieces at 4 feet long
4 pieces at 2 feet long

2. Assemble the twin bed frames according to the manufacturer's instructions.

3. Assemble the full bed frame according to the manufacturer's instructions.

4. Attach the 4 feet long 2x4s to the inside of the twin bed frames, 1 foot from the top. These will support the plywood platform.

5. Attach the 2 feet long 2x4s to the outside of the twin bed frames, 1 foot from the bottom. These will support the stairs.

6. Cut the plywood to fit the platform. Attach the plywood to the 4 feet long 2x4s with 1-inch wood screws.

7. Cut the plywood to fit the stairs. Attach the plywood to the 2 feet long 2x4s with 1-inch wood screws.

8. Attach the stairs to the twin bed frames with 2-inch wood screws.

9. Sand the entire bunk bed and stairs to smooth any rough edges.

10. Paint or stain the bunk bed and stairs as desired.
