How to Build a Queen Loft Bed Frame

Materials

4x4 posts (4)
2x6 lumber (4)
2x4 lumber (8)

Instructions

1. Cut the lumber.

Cut the 4x4 posts to the length you want the bed frame to be. The length will vary depending on the height of your ceiling. Cut the 2x6 lumber to the width of the bed frame. Cut the 2x4 lumber to the length of the bed frame, minus 6 inches. This will leave a 3-inch overhang on each side of the bed frame.

2. Assemble the frame.

Attach the 2x6 lumber to the 4x4 posts using wood screws. Make sure the 2x6 lumber is flush with the top of the posts. Attach the 2x4 lumber to the inside of the 2x6 lumber, flush with the bottom. This will create the base of the bed frame.

3. Attach the plywood.

Cut the plywood to the size of the bed frame base. Attach the plywood to the base using wood screws. Make sure the plywood is flush with the edges of the base.

4. Install the mattress.

Place the mattress on the bed frame base. Make sure the mattress is centered.

5. Enjoy your new loft bed!
