How to Build a Queen Bed Frame Out of Wood

Building a bed frame out of wood is a great way to add a personal touch to your bedroom. It's also a relatively inexpensive project that can be completed in a few hours. Here are the steps on how to build a queen bed frame out of wood:

Step 1: Gather your materials

1x6 pine boards (8 pieces, each 84 inches long)
1x12 pine board (1 piece, 84 inches long)
2x4 pine boards (4 pieces, each 60 inches long)
Wood screws
Wood glue
Drill
Countersink bit
Saw
Sandpaper
Stain or paint (optional)

Step 2: Cut the boards

Cut the 1x6 pine boards to the following lengths: 4 pieces at 84 inches long, and 4 pieces at 60 inches long.
Cut the 1x12 pine board to 84 inches long.
Cut the 2x4 pine boards to 60 inches long.

Step 3: Assemble the headboard and footboard

Lay out the 4 pieces of 1x6 pine boards that are 84 inches long. Glue and screw them together along their edges to form the headboard. Repeat this step to form the footboard.
Attach the 1x12 pine board to the top of the headboard and footboard using glue and screws. This will create a sturdy frame for the mattress to rest on.

Step 4: Assemble the side rails

Lay out the 4 pieces of 1x6 pine boards that are 60 inches long. Glue and screw them together along their edges to form two side rails.
Attach the side rails to the headboard and footboard using glue and screws. Make sure that the side rails are flush with the top of the headboard and footboard.

Step 5: Reinforce the frame (optional)

Cut two pieces of 2x4 pine board to 60 inches long. Attach them to the inside of the side rails, running from the headboard to the footboard. Reinforcing the frame will make it more sturdy and prevent it from sagging in the middle.

Step 6: Sand and finish the bed frame
