Instructions
1. Cut the PlywoodThe first step is to cut the plywood to size. The plywood will be used to make the cabinet, the bed platform, and the front panel.
- Cut two pieces of plywood to 36 inches wide by 84 inches tall for the cabinet sides.
- Cut two pieces of plywood to 36 inches wide by 72 inches tall for the cabinet bottom and top.
- Cut one piece of plywood to 36 inches wide by 80 inches tall for the bed platform.
- Cut one piece of plywood to 36 inches wide by 48 inches tall for the front panel.
The next step is to assemble the cabinet. The cabinet will house the bed platform when it is folded up.
- Place the two cabinet sides on the floor, parallel to each other and 36 inches apart.
- Attach the cabinet bottom to the bottom of the cabinet sides using wood screws and wood glue.
- Attach the cabinet top to the top of the cabinet sides using wood screws and wood glue.
The next step is to install the bed platform. The bed platform will support the mattress.
- Place the bed platform inside the cabinet, resting on the cabinet sides.
- Attach the bed platform to the cabinet sides using wood screws and wood glue.
The next step is to install the front panel. The front panel will cover the bed platform when it is folded up.
- Position the front panel on the front of the cabinet, flush with the top and bottom edges.
- Attach the front panel to the cabinet using wood screws and wood glue.
The final step is to install the Murphy bed hardware. The hardware will allow the bed platform to fold up and down.
