How to Build a Gas Lift Bed

A gas lift bed is a great way to add storage space to your bedroom without taking up too much floor space. It is also a convenient way to access your belongings, as you can simply lift the mattress to reveal the storage area below.

Building a gas lift bed is not as difficult as you might think. With a little planning and preparation, you can have a beautiful and functional gas lift bed in no time.

Materials you will need:

Mattress
Wood for the frame (2x4s, 2x6s, or 2x8s)
Gas lift pistons (2 per bed)
Screws
Wood glue
Drill
Saw
Measuring tape
Level

Instructions:

1. Cut the wood for the frame to the desired length. The frame should be the same width as the mattress and about 6 inches taller than the mattress.

2. Assemble the frame using wood glue and screws. Make sure the frame is square and level.

3. Attach the gas lift pistons to the frame. The pistons should be attached to the inside of the frame, about 6 inches from the top and bottom.

4. Place the mattress on the frame. The mattress should fit snugly inside the frame.

5. Test the gas lift bed by lifting the mattress. The mattress should lift easily and smoothly.

6. Enjoy your new gas lift bed!

Tips:

Use strong wood for the frame. 2x4s, 2x6s, or 2x8s are all good options.
Make sure the frame is square and level before attaching the gas lift pistons.
