  • Step-by-Step Instructions:

    1. Cut the 2x4s:

  • Cut 8 pieces to 84 inches long (side rails)
  • Cut 7 pieces to 60 inches long (slats)
  • Cut 4 pieces to 24 inches long (legs)
  • Cut 8 pieces to 12 inches long (slats for the headboard and footboard)
  • 2. Assemble the side rails:
  • Place two 84-inch side rails parallel to each other, 60 inches apart.
  • Attach the 60-inch slats to the side rails using wood screws. Space the slats evenly, about 5 inches apart.
  • Repeat to create the other side rail.

    3. Assemble the headboard and footboard:
  • Create two identical frames using the 84-inch side rails and 12-inch slats.
  • Attach the frames to the side rails using wood screws.
  • 4. Assemble the legs:
  • Attach the 24-inch legs to the corners of the bed frame using wood screws.
  • Make sure the legs are flush with the bottom of the side rails.
  • 5. Place the plywood:
  • Cut the plywood to 60x84 inches.
  • Place the plywood on top of the side rails and slats.
  • Attach the plywood to the frame using wood screws.
  • 6. Sand and finish:
  • Sand any rough edges or splinters.
  • Apply stain or paint to the platform bed if desired.
