Unlock the Secrets of a DIY Queen Platform Bed with Drawers

3. Bed Frame Construction
Step 1: Cut the Frame Pieces
Use a circular saw to cut the pine or cedar into the following pieces:
- 2 side rails (76" x 6")
- 2 end rails (62" x 6")
- 6 legs (6" x 6" x 12")
Step 2: Assemble the Frame
Assemble the frame by attaching the end rails to the side rails using wood screws. Then, attach the legs to the corners of the frame.
Step 3: Cut and Attach the Slats
Cut the pine or cedar into slats that are approximately 2" wide and 54" long. Space the slats evenly and attach them to the inner frame using wood screws.
4. Drawer Construction
Step 1: Cut the Drawer Pieces
Cut the plywood into the following pieces for each drawer:
- 1 drawer bottom (18" x 18")
- 2 drawer sides (8" x 18")
- 2 drawer ends (8" x 11")
- 1 drawer front (18" x 11")
Step 2: Assemble the Drawers
Assemble the drawers by attaching the sides and ends to the bottom using wood glue and screws. Then, attach the drawer front to the top of the drawer box.
Step 3: Install Drawer Slides
Attach drawer slides to the inner side rails of the bed frame and to the bottom of each drawer. This will allow the drawers to slide in and out smoothly.
